Niche Marketing

Niche market is the specific market that endeavors to provide the certain needs of the people. The market is made up of niches that are aimed singularly to the satisfaction of the people. For example, coaching is a niche; but it is a big market where lots of submarkets are stringing on. Life coaching, business coaching, and sports coaching are narrower demographics of the coaching market.

In layman’s term, niche market is shooting the arrow nearer the center rather than aiming at the entire dart board. Simply, a product or service targets or focuses on a single specific need of the consumer that is not or rarely addressed by providers. Niche market creates a specific consumer group to market the product; say, Italian executives’ shoes aim to target Class A male consumers or baby walkers focus on infants and children aged 2 years below.

Reasons of Niche Marketing

The number of competitors is proportional to the vastness of the market that you are into. A coach may have numerous competitor coaches; each of them may have different specialty. It is very important to reduce your competition to have a higher possibility of getting the entire consumer group.

If you have a small business struggling over for survival, it is a good matter to take smaller niches. It will give you a sole royalty from the consumer group and most large businesses do not take small niches or narrower consumer demographics. For small businesses, narrower demographics may mean better meeting the needs of the group giving you better business scope.

Targeting a specific niche will give you better programs that you can use to reach the consumer group. Large companies use narrower consumer demographics to meet specific needs but the difference: large companies can secure large investment to make their niches diverse and focused.

Moreover, narrower niches allow you to lower down the cost of marketing.  If you are selling athletic shoes, it will be good to advertise on sports channel and get an exposure to the right consumer group who has higher possibility of buying athletic shoes.

Niche Marketing in the Internet

Niche marketing is also used in the internet market. The narrower the niche market, the higher possibility of consumer penetration through web users searches. Specific keywords are used to motivate search engine crawling over your website giving you the opportunity to market your products.

Search engines use keywords, pictures, videos as gauge of crawling to the website. Narrower niches allow the website to be advertised on a specific group types which have higher probability of searching narrower keywords.

For example, a business executive who wants to learn more and be motivated would likely ask for a coach. Possibilities are: he would search “coaches” – but this keyword is vague and it will present him several sites which baffle him. To eliminate the problem, he would search “business coaching”. But still it will not meet his research because business coaching may give career coaching among others.

The right keyword he will use is “business executive coaching”. That’s the narrowest niche and if you use that keyword in your website, your website will have higher possibility of search engines first page.
