What is Niche Marketing?
Niche marketing means to find a specific part of a general market for the service or product that you offer. This segment is then explored in order to come up with a solution for the needs in that particular section. The product or service is something that is not readily served by major marketers. Its main aim is to fill up a space in the market place.
How is it done?
To explain how Niche Marketing is done, let’s first give an example.
Let’s take for instance, Toyota’s niche strategy. Toyota is one of the big car companies in the world. And as such, it seems as if Toyota focuses only on marketing and producing cars. But beneath this view, Toyota used Niche Marketing to further boost their business.
Toyota then researched for niches where they can supply a product that will fill up its particular needs. Toyota is actually one of the first companies to produce cars for people who search for environment friendly cars. And for this reason, Toyota Prius came up. Prius is actually the first mass produced hybrid cars.
As such, Toyota Prius became a brand that stand for environment friendly cars. This is how Niche marketing works. However, Toyota didn’t just produce the car to fill up the marketing void. It also came up with effective niche marketing plan. Prius was marketed not only to car buyers but also to people concerned with environment. The car was marketed to various environmental groups, stretching its scope.
Relating this strategy to online niche marketing, your first step is then to identify niches and provide certain products or services to fill up the needs. The main goal of which is to focus your site and your marketing strategy on that segment of the market that is not yet dominated.
